WiFi Master Review
A free program for Android, by Tren-D Technology.
Whether streaming a movie while riding the subway or downloading a new mobile game in a hotel room, using a cell phone data connection for an extended period can burn through your limited data plan in a hurry. WiFi Master helps you avoid wasting expensive mobile data by connecting to freely shared wifi hotspots in a snap.
The app stores millions of user-verified wifi keys in a central database, so you can land in any city and instantly find wifi access points to connect to. The software also identifies the geolocation, MAC address, and other details for each of these free networks.
Once you land in the destination of your choice, all you need to do is choose the network with the strongest signal. Then, simply tap a blue icon to connect with the network. This process is especially helpful for travelers or anyone with a limited data plan.
As you can imagine, many public wifi hotspots are unsecured and may steal your personal information. Fortunately, WiFi Master is able to scan and identify these unsecure hotspots and warn you of the danger.
As you might expect, this kind of data-ravaging behavior can draw criticism from state cybercrime watchdogs and others concerned about user privacy. However, WiFi Master defends itself by explaining that it asks for consent before gleaning data from users. It also notes that the app does not allow you to share your private networks with other users, which it says would be a major breach of privacy.
